In this article discussed is the procedure and results of pilot investigations carried out on an air-water dust suppression system, provided on the R 200N arm with the cutting member of a KWS-460 NE longwall shearer unit, realized jointly by JSW SA and CMG KOMAG under a purpose-oriented project. Described is the construction of a testing stand made by KD Barbara (Barbara Test Mine) and presented is the procedure of investigating the effectiveness of preventing and extinguishing an ignition of gas on that stand.

The prognoses of land surface deformations caused by the mining operation, made periodically,
e.g. for the purposes of Mine Operation Plan, are affected by two types of errors. These are errors of a systematic nature resulting from non-realized mining operation projects, inadequacy of the mathematical model in relation to the actual course of the deformation phenomenon and the data system of the model, as well as accidental errors resulting from a varying seam thickness within a given seam section, unpredictable phenomena associated with the strata deformations and a number of other factors.
The assessment of accuracy of such prognoses, realized for large surface areas (whole mine sites),
is connected with a necessity of analysing the two types of errors. In the article presented is a methodology of verifying the reliability of prognoses by way of spatial analysis of accidental errors and selection of errors. For this purpose used has been a spatial differential grid-type model made by an a’ posteriori analysis for a five-year prognosis. The results gained testify to a necessity of an approach to verification of reliability of deformation prognoses that is somewhat different than the hitherto exercised.

Discussed in the article are issues pertaining to the records of lands and buildings and the rules of determining the rates of taxes imposed on different kinds of land as regards the administration of post-mining land areas. Also presented here is a possibility adjustment of the records of lands and buildings realized on the basis regulations on land surveying and mapping for the purpose of ad-ministration of post-industrial land areas.

Presented here is a model analysis of the influence variations in rigidity of the overburden layers
on variations of the radius of range of the main impacts, thereby on variation of the main impact reach angle in the strata, being the data of theory of prognostication of the impacts of mining
operation on the land surface and the strata. Accepted has been a multi-layer model with a diver-sified thickness and rigidity of each layer. The results obtained justify the opinion that in order
to prognosticate the values of land and strata deformations one can recommend computation models which formulate the relationships resulting from mechanical properties of rocks as, e.g.
immediate strength for uniaxial compression Rc
