Safety standards for transport, internal combustion engines and crane equipment in the mining industry
The videoconference took place at the State Mining Authority on 11 December 2024. The main topics of the meeting were the current state of safety in mining, the causes and circumstances of accidents occurring in 2023-2024 in transport, the requirements for internal combustion engines for non-road mobile machinery in mining operations and the rules for the inspection of crane equipment in underground workings.
Historical mining maps from SMA on display in the "Sztygarka” museum
The "Sztygarka” City Museum in Dąbrowa Górnicza and the State Mining Authority have organised an unusual exhibition. From 3 December 2024 until 30 January 2025, it features historical maps of mine workings and geological cross-sections of mining plants that once operated in the Dąbrowa Górnicza.
St. Barbara's Day at the Silesian Museum in Katowice
National and miners' flags were hoisted on the mast. In the SMA, everyday official suits were replaced with black, festive miners' uniforms.
Workshop on safety of work at height in mining
On 7 November 2024, a rescue workshop was held for the 5th time at the Central Mine Rescue Station S.A. in Bytom under the slogan ‘Safety of work at height in mining plants’.
Meeting of the EU ATEX AdCo Group chaired by a SMA’s representative
On 5-6 November 2024, the 38th meeting of ATEX AdCo - the European working group for administrative cooperation in the area of Directive 2014/34/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council of 26 February 2014 on the harmonisation of the laws of the Member States relating to equipment and protective systems intended for use in potentially explosive atmospheres - was held in Brussels.

The 28th Meeting of the Heads of Mining Authorities of the European Countries took place in Freiberg (Germany, Saxony) from 14 to 16 October.
European Commission working group debated safety in opencast mining
On 9-10 October 2024, a meeting of the Standing Working Group on Mining and Other Extractive Industries was held in Luxembourg within the Advisory Committee for Safety and Heath at Work (ACSH) of the European Commission.
Cooperation for mining and geology - agreement with Polish Geological Institute
On Wednesday, October 3, 2024, in the Geological Museum in Warsaw, a conference on the "Investment climate for the mineral sector” and ceremonial signing of the agreement between the Polish Geological Institute and the State Mining Authority took place.
Over 13 million of penal fees for illegal mining
The State Mining Authority summarized the effects of district mining offices' actions of fighting illegal exploitation in the first half of the year. During this period, the directors of district mining offices imposed 34 penal fees for 13 262 135 PLN.
Meeting with a survived miner from the Rydułtowy mine
Fifty hours of hope - this is how long the miner Dominik Majlinger waited to be rescued, trapped underground due to an earthquake in the "ROW" Ruch Rydułtowy coal mine, which occurred on July 11, 2024. This unquestionable success resulted from the professionalism, extraordinary determination and effort of the mine rescuers who saved their colleague despite the tough underground conditions.
