90 years of mining supervision in Poland
13 February 2012State Mining Authority is celebrating its 90th anniversary this year. The Authority was brought into being on 24 June 1922. Three days later 4 district mining offices were created. Two of them are still existing and are a part of 11 district and specialized mining offices which perform supervision over more than 6.500 mining plants in Poland.
To emphasize the importance of the 90th anniversary, State Mining Authority is planning to organize various events and meetings promoting the role of mining supervision over the years in reducing the frequency and severity of accidents in mining and in improving safety and health conditions in Polish extractive industry.
The most important event of the celebrations is St. Barbara’s Day – Miner’s Day celebration which will take place on 4th December 2012 in Katowice.
