ATEX AdCo group meeting
18 December 2023The 36th meeting of the ATEX AdCo group - the European working group for administrative cooperation in the area of Directive 2014/34/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council of 26 February 2014 on the harmonisation of the laws of the Member States relating to equipment and protective systems intended for use in potentially explosive atmospheres - was held in Brussels on 13, 14 December.
The meeting was chaired by Roman Sąsiadek - Deputy Director of the Department of Energy and Mechanics of the State Mining Authority, acting as the chairman of the ATEX AdCo group, and was attended by representatives of market supervision authorities from individual Member States, a representative of the Directorate General for Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion of the European Commission (DG EMPL), the chairman of the CEN/TC 31 Technical Committee for Electrical Equipment designed to work in Explosion Hazard Zones, the chairman of the CEN/TC 305 Technical Committee for Potentially Explosive Atmospheres - Explosion prevention and protection, the chairman of the European Coordination Group for Notified Bodies (ExNBG) for the ATEX Directive (2014/34/EU), the chairman of the MD AdCo administrative cooperation group for the machinery directive 2006/42/EC, as well as experts in the area covered by the scope of the working group.
During the meeting, the attendees learned about the activities of the Product Control Team of the State Mining Authority’s Department of Energy and Mechanics, who presented selected issues from current activities in the area of market supervision of products covered by the ATEX Directive used in the Polish mining industry. The team also introduced issues regarding the rules of operation of already used products in terms of compliance with the ATEX Directive (2014/34/EU), the ATEX User Directive (1999/92/EC) and the LVD Directive (2014/35/EU).
