ATEX AdCo group meeting

On June 25 and 26, 2024, the 37th meeting of ATEX AdCo - the European working group for administrative cooperation in the field of Directive 2014/34/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council of February 26 2014 on the harmonisation of the laws of the Member States relating to equipment and protective systems intended for use in potentially explosive atmospheres - was held by teleconference.

The meeting was chaired by Roman Sąsiadek, deputy director of the Energy and Mechanics Department of the State Mining Authority and chairman of the ATEX AdCo group. It was attended by representatives of market surveillance authorities of individual European Union countries, and a representative of the Directorate General Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion of the European Commission (DG EMPL), Chairman of the CEN/TC 31 Technical Committee on Electrical Equipment in Explosive Atmospheres, Chairman of the CEN/TC 305 Technical Committee on Potentially Explosive Atmospheres - Prevention and Protection against Explosion, Chair of the European Coordination Group of Notified Bodies (ExNBG) for the ATEX Directive (2014/34/EU), Chair of the MD AdCo Administrative Cooperation Group under the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC and experts in the area covered by the working group.

The meeting program included, among other issues, related to the European Network for Product Compliance (EU PCN), the use of spare parts in products in terms of compliance with the ATEX directive (2014/34/EU), the ATEX User directive (1999/92/EC) and recent changes in the guide to the directive included in the 5th edition ATEX (2014/34/EU).
