An opportunity for Polish-Indian cooperation in the mining sector
23 May 2024On Thursday, May 23, an online meeting was held with Konrad Duda, a representative of the Polish Embassy in New Delhi, on establishing Polish-Indian cooperation in the field of coal mining. Following up on an invitation from the Ministry of Industry (Department of European Funds and Foreign Affairs), which was the promoter of the event, the teleconference was also attended by representatives of the State Mining Authority.
The leading theme of the meeting was cooperation and the exchange of experience in the mining sector.
India is a country where more than a billion tons of coal are mined annually, and mining is being carried out deeper and deeper underground, resulting in natural hazards previously unknown in the country. Poland has vast experience in underground coal mining. Among other issues, the parties discussed what our country, and especially Silesia, can offer in the areas of technology, machinery, equipment and mining expertise. With the mutual cooperation between Poland and India growing stronger, representatives of Indian industry and administration related to the mining industry will be invited to the Expo Fair to be held this autumn.
