Cooperation for mining and geology - agreement with Polish Geological Institute
3 October 2024On Wednesday, October 3, 2024, in the Geological Museum in Warsaw, a conference on the "Investment climate for the mineral sector” and ceremonial signing of the agreement between the Polish Geological Institute and the State Mining Authority took place. At the conference, the situation of the mineral sector in Poland was presented, and proposals were made for changes to improve the investment climate in the industry. Piotr Litwa, the President of the State Mining Authority, attended the event. During his speech, in a panel discussion "Challenges for the Polish economy in terms of raw materials”, he raised the issues the economic use of the space of inactive underground mine workings and water from drainage of underground mines. He also presented problems of post-mining land reclamation and the State Treasury's liability for damage caused by mining activities.
After the conference, the President of the State Mining Authority and the President of the Polish Geological Institute signed an agreement of cooperation between the Institute and the State Mining Authority. The document's signatories decided to cooperate in protecting mineral deposits and their resources, support the development of geology and mining, exchange information in the area of geological hazards, and consult legal solutions concerning geology and mining.
