Dear All
25 March 2024To all those I had the pleasure of cooperating with, both in mining supervision authorities and in all types of mining plants and institutions and organizations related to mining.
As of today, I was dismissed from the position of President of the State Mining Authority by Prime Minister Donald Tusk. I held this position proudly for more than seven years.
During my 30-year work in mining supervision bodies, I have met many amazing people, starting with my superiors, through my colleagues, and - more recently - also my subordinates, with whom I have solved many, often difficult problems related to the operation of mining offices. Unfortunately, these also included dramatic events: accidents, sometimes even mining disasters. For the most part, however, this was arduous work to prevent such situations based on our best knowledge and abilities. Together, we have made decisions which greatly affected the level of safety in mining. I have always appreciated a sense of support in my activities and I have recognized your immense commitment to the pursuit of the objectives imposed by the Geological and Mining Law. I can proudly say that, during the seven years in office as the head of the State Mining Authority, I owe any success in my work to your endeavors. With this, I would like to wholeheartedly thank you for all the years of cooperation, for your friendship, assistance and mutual loyalty, which connects people pursuing the same objective.
I would like to direct a separate thank you to mining companies, mining rescue units, the State Labor Inspectorate, the Social Insurance Institution, the Technical Supervision Office, the Mining Chamber of Industry and Commerce, SITG, trade unions and social organizations, academic organizations and scientific organizations, as well as all those for whom the safety of mining and extraction of minerals has been a priority. It was thanks to your commitment to cooperating with mining supervision organizations that we have observed decreasing accident rates in mining, although fluctuating - due to natural and inevitable factors. Our common endeavors contributed to changing the role and perception of mining authorities - from a strictly controlling institution, which was often repressive in its nature, to an office - a partner for mining plants, one that assists in resolving the most difficult operational issues related not only to threats, but also to formal and legal problems.
In the first quarter of this year, which is coming to an end, we have not recorded any fatal or major accidents, which inspires moderate optimism. I would like to wish you all for this trend to be kept as long as possible - preferably forever.
To all employees of mining offices, I wish they are able to fulfill their professional ambitions and to be able to go to work with pleasure, leaving it satisfied with a sense of a job well done. Privately, I want to wish all of your dreams and plans to come true.
God bless,
Adam Mirek
