10 October 2024

On 9-10 October 2024, a meeting of the Standing Working Group on Mining and Other Extractive Industries was held in Luxembourg within the Advisory Committee for Safety and Heath at Work (ACSH) of the European Commission.

Roman Sąsiadek, deputy director of the Department of Energy, Mechanics and Basic Infrastructure of the State Mining Authority, participated in the group's meeting as its vice-chairman and government representative.

During the meeting, the issues of accidents in the mining industry were discussed, with particular attention paid to matters of safety in the movement of workers, machinery, and vehicles in open-pit mining plants. The last part of the meeting was a visit to the Carrières Feidt SA opencast natural aggregate mining site in Altwies.

The Standing Working Group on Mining and Other Industries was set up by the Advisory Committee on Safety and Health at Work based on the Council Decision of June 22, 2003.
