Exams have returned to mining offices
8 July 2024On July 6, 2024, the regulation on qualifications in the field of mining and mine rescue was entered into force. It restores the possibility of conducting examinations in mining offices, which will enable the recruitment of qualified staff to work in the mining industry.
The Regulation of the Minister of Industry of June 25, 2024, on qualifications in the field of mining and mine rescue was announced on July 5, 2024 (Journal of Laws, item 992). The need to issue a new normative act resulted from legislative and practical reasons, including the entry into force of the Act of June 16, 2023, amending the Geological and Mining Law.
As a result of the changes introduced by last year's amendment, all persons performing activities in the management or supervision of the operation of a mining plant or plant, as well as managerial activities in entities professionally engaged in mining rescue are obliged to have qualifications specified in the Geological and Mining Law, confirmed by the competent mining supervision authorities.
The new regulation replaced the regulation of the Minister of the Environment of August 2, 2016 on qualifications in the field of mining and mine rescue (Journal of Laws, item 1229).
