Halina Krahelska Award for Krzysztof Król, the Vice President of the State Mining Authority
27 November 2019On 26 November 2019, Halina Krahelska Award ceremony was held at the Royal Castle in Warsaw, with the participation of the Deputy Marshal of the Sejm, Ryszard Terlecki. This year's award was granted, among others, to the Vice President of the State Mining Authority, Krzysztof Król, a mining geologist, graduate of the AGH University of Science and Technology in Cracow. He has devoted his whole professional life to identifying and preventing natural and technical hazards, as well as complying with occupational safety regulations and standards in the Polish mining industry.
He is an author of numerous publications, presentations and analyses on natural hazards, pertaining to all types of mining and a co-author of the patented method of long wall observations, for which he received a distinction in the National Competition of Working Conditions Improvement in the category “Technical and organisational solutions”. Upon his initiative, the rules of application of the "Complex Method and Detailed Methods for Evaluating Rock Burst Hazard in Hard Coal Mining Plants" and the technology of longwall mining in conditions of strong rock burst hazard in "Bobrek" coal mine in Bytom were modified.
He participated in the work of committees appointed to investigate the causes and circumstances of shocks and bursts and the associated accidents. He was a member of the jury in numerous competitions concerning occupational safety in the Polish mining industry.
