Honours for brave mine rescuers

Management Board of the Wacław Cybulski Safe Mining Foundation, in cooperation with the President of the State Mining Authority awarded honorary diplomas "Brave Coalminer” to six mining rescuers who took part in rescue operations following a cave-in on May 14-15, 2024 at the "Mysłowice-Wesoła" coal mine and July 11-13, 2024 at the "Ruch Rydułtowy ROW" coal mine. The awards ceremony took place on August 5, 2024, at the headquarters of the State Mining Authority.

President Piotr Litwa extended his best wishes to the distinguished miners-rescuers and expressed his thanks for their exemplary attitude, work and dedication during the rescue operations. On this occasion, everyone unanimously emphasised how vital cooperation between institutions involved in rescue operations and logistic support was. The awarded miners-rescuers expressed gratitude for the awards. They talked about the most challenging moments of the actions carried out in the "Mysłowice-Wesoła" coal mine and the "ROW" Ruch Rydułtowy coal mine.

Finally, President Piotr Litwa received special thanks from the vice president of Polska Grupa Górnicza S.A. Marek Skuza, for his support, substantive help and personal involvement in the rescue operation at the Ruch Rydułtowy coal mine "ROW".

Wacław Cybulski Safe Mining Foundation, which has been operating at the State Mining Authority since 1997, in 2010 began rewarding miners for their exemplary actions. The distinction is awarded in consultation with the President of SMA. Applications to honour mining industry workers may be submitted by employers, directors of district mining offices and founding members of the Wacław Cybulski Safe Mining Foundation.
