Over 13 million of penal fees for illegal mining
20 September 2024The State Mining Authority summarized the effects of district mining offices' actions of fighting illegal exploitation in the first half of the year. During this period, the directors of district mining offices imposed 34 penal fees for 13 262 135 PLN. The most considerable amount of fees for (PLN 11 688 319) was imposed by the director of district mining offices in Gdańsk. In the first half of the year, all mining offices released 164 notifications about activities subject to penal fees.
Penal fees are imposed in the case of activities carried out without the required license and without a geological works project. The rates of the penalties significantly exceed the rates of service fees paid by entrepreneurs operating by the law. Revenues from the fees in 60% constitute the income of the commune in which the activity was carried out, and in 40% the income of the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management.
