Over 70 Complaints on the Hotline

In 2024, the State Mining Authority received, via a special hotline, 72 complaints regarding irregularities in the operation of mining plants. The validity of the reports was confirmed in 10 cases.

The emergency telephone line at the State Mining Authority is operated by dispatchers who are on duty 24 hours a day. Under the number +48 32 736 19 47, they receive information on safety hazards and irregularities at mining plants. Such complaints can also be sent to the e-mail address wug@wug.gov.pl and by traditional mail.

In 2024, the Department of Work Conditions and Training of the SMA received 72 notifications regarding irregularities in the operation of mining plants. In 10 cases, the notifications proved to be valid. Nine notifications remain pending.

In 2023, there were 53 complaints (15 confirmed), in 2022 - 70 (27 confirmed), in 2021 - 87 (26 confirmed), while in 2020 - 97 (35 confirmed).

The most frequently reported and confirmed irregularities in the operation of mining facilities in 2024 were:

  • exceeding the permissible temperature (13 irregularities, 2 confirmed),
  • improper condition of machinery and equipment, including improper operation of mining machinery and equipment (6 irregularities, 2 confirmed),
  • illegal operation (5 irregularities, 1 confirmed),
  • failure to observe working time (4 irregularities, 1 confirmed),
  • violation of accident procedure (3 irregularities, 1 confirmed).

Other reports included using low-quality materials without the required certificates, night-time operations, theft of mine property and improper use of personal protective equipment.
