Proper protection of the respiratory system from inhalation hazards occurring in the work environment
21 May 2024As part of preventive measures aimed at reducing the impact of dust harmful to health in the Polish mining industry, improving working conditions and reducing the number of occupational diseases, the State Mining Authority has organized a training course on: Proper protection of the respiratory system from inhalation hazards occurring in the work environment.
The training, which took place on May 21, 2024, at the State Mining Authority in Katowice, was attended by 60 people. They were representatives of the health and safety services of underground mining companies and mining authorities.
The training was conducted by representatives of the Department of Personal Protection, Respiratory Protection Equipment Laboratory of CIOP PIB (Central Institute For Labour Protection - National Research Institute), who focused on the following issues:
- Types of inhalation hazards and legal requirements in respiratory protection;
- Basic classification of respiratory protection equipment and its application;
- Selection of respiratory protective equipment adequate to inhalation hazards;
- Proper use of equipment to increase the effectiveness of protection;
- Individual adjustment of the facial part to facial dimensions - demonstration using the PortaCount particle counter.
