Study visit to KGHM Polska Miedź SA, Polkowice - Sieroszowice Branch
13 May 2019On 9 and 10 May 2019, a study visit was held on the premises of KGHM Polska Miedź SA, Polkowice - Sieroszowice Branch as part of the Interreg Minelife project. It was attended by representatives of the State Mining Authority in Katowice, District Mining Office in Wroclaw, Saxon Mining Office in Freiberg, Marshal's Office in Wroclaw and the scientific community (Wroclaw University of Technology, University of Silesia). On the first day of the meeting, the participants got acquainted with the technological process of exploitation of salt and copper ores and the mining method. The group then went to the Mine Rescue Station in Sobin where it took part in a presentation of the activities of the Station and got acquainted with the facility, its equipment and organisation. On the second day, the meeting participants visited the Extractive Waste Treatment Facility "Żelazny Most" where they learned about the technical aspects of its functioning and the actions taken to protect the environment.
