The bodies of the last four victims of the mining disaster in Stonava were recovered
14 May 2019On 13 May 2019 Czech rescuers brought to the surface the bodies of the last four miners who died in December in the mining disaster in Stonava.
On 20 December 2018, a methane explosion killed 13 miners, including 12 Poles, in the CSM hard coal mine in Karviná in the Czech part of Cieszyn Silesia. The tragedy has strongly moved the entire Polish Miners' Community.
The management and employees of the State Mining Authority and district mining offices and the Specialized Mining Office assure the Families and relatives of the victims who died in the Stonava Mine of thier deepest sympathy. Sincere thanks for kindness and cooperation to date in connection with explaining the causes and circumstances of this event are addressed to President Martin Štemberka and Czech mining supervisory authority which is subordinate to him.
